MCE OF LeKMA PLEDGES TO SUPPORTS THE "BECAUSE I WANT TO BE".....
MCE for the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly, Evelyn Naa Adjeley Twum-Gyamrah earlier today joined the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Rebecca Akufo-Addo for the launch of the "BECAUSE I WANT TO BE.... " project targeted at adolescent girls who have struggled to stay in school due to a myriad of socio-economic challenges.
Under the project which is being supported the United Nations Population Fund, the ladies between the ages of 19-35 will be mentored and encouraged to go back and complete their education. For those who want to learn skills, the program offers them an opportunity to be equipped with the relevant skills to enable them fend for themselves.
The Rebecca Foundation which is spearheading the project believes no lady is supposed to be left out of the developmental agenda of the Akufo Addo led government.
The MCE being a woman, has bought into the initiative and pledged her utmost commitment to supporting the brilliant idea of the First Lady who hails from Teshie in the Greater Accra region.
Upon assumption of office, the First Lady has and continues to provide daily upkeep for people in Teshie and beyond in the area of skill acquisition and helping pay fees of others.
Very soon, a scholarship scheme will be introduced to cushion the people of Teshie and its environs to especially eliminate the canker of school drop outs.
The Assembly of which she's the head of, will fully and in all commitment support the "BECAUSE I WANT TO BE....." initiative which is supposed to benefit some nine communities along the coast of the Greater Accra Region.
